Mungkin banyak yang belum tahu, rockbox adalah aplikasi ported dari perangkat music portable. Di kembangkan untuk mutu suara terbaik, bisa dibuktikan . Tapi mempunyai kelemahan yaitu interface yang masih sangat sederhana tapi ini tertutupi dengan fungsi yang lengkap (crossfeed, replaygain,...). Dicoba saja pasti tidak kecewa dengan output suara yang benar benar bagus dibanding music player lainnya.

Rockbox on software decoding platforms (non-Archos) supports playback of eleven lossy codecs (depending on how one counts), five lossless, two uncompressed and twelve miscellaneous formats.This makes a conservative total of 30 supported audio formats, although a few of them do not operate in realtime on all platforms.
Extensive work has gone into optimizing each codec, with FLAC, Ogg, WMA, APE, TTA, MPC, Wavpack and WMA Pro among the fastest known integer implementations for those formats.
